I'm Like You

from Hearts & Lungs by Matt Salkeld

/

lyrics

I've told you this hundred thousand times before and I won't be subjugated to your lies anymore. Freedom isn't free that's what they try to tell me. I do what I wanna do I see what I wanna see. No trendy fuck can tread on me I've wrestled with the worst. When the well runs dry they'll cease to try they'll never quench their thirst. I'm like you, I'm all messed up inside. Just a victim of this sad charade that we call life. Not like me to take it out on you. It's all part of this emptiness and everything untrue.
These fragile times throughout my life I try to simplify. Keep my heart under my sleeve. I'm sure that you know why. Been desecrated to the point that it can't beat. Until a friend comes along and shines a light on me. I'm like you I'm all messed up inside. Just a victim of this sad charade that we call life. Not like me to take it out on you. It's all part of this emptiness and everything untrue.
